Weeping Elephant Talks

There are exceptional people doing extraordinary work with wild, captive and orphaned elephants. Through co-founding and helping to build Animal Defense Partnership from 2016 to 2025, I’ve been extremely fortunate to learn about, meet and develop relationships with “elephant people,” many of whom I’ve come to greatly respect and admire. Their stories and message need to get out and it’s important that we recognize, appreciate and thank them for their efforts and accomplishments.

The format will be conversational interviews with leaders and visionaries working on behalf of elephants. This will include, elephant scientists, behaviorists and caretakers; founders of sanctuaries and other elephant safe havens; authors; photojournalists; advocates; and others. We’ll cover their elephant origin stories, contributions, successes, frustrations, the emotional toll this work too often takes, how they cope, and what’s yet to come.

The podcast’s goal is to help elephant organizations and advocates reach a wider audience and to serve as a resource for those interested in understanding more about the plight of captive elephants and the unseen awfulness to which they’re subjected.  By interviewing these extraordinary advocates and organizations we hope to help raise their profile and bring more attention and potential funding sources to their remarkable work.

I’ll update this page as we move forward and start publishing episodes, and hope that you’ll give it a try.

If you have suggestions for future topics or guests, or wish to join me for an episode, we welcome and encourage your input.
