We’re Seeking a Very Excellent Part-Time Social Media Director

Weeping Elephant Project (www.weepingelephant.org) is a newly formed nonprofit, the mission o which is to reduce, and ultimately end, the suffering of captive, wild and orphaned elephants.  Our emphasis is on zoo and circus elephants in the U.S..  We’re looking for someone to design and execute a social media strategy to create and distribute our content to the right target audiences.

For example, circuses travel around the country to different regions and venues throughout the year.   Our goal is to create content that educates people about the horrible lives that circus elephants must endure.  We want to persuade our target audience (e.g., parents with young kids) not to support this abuse by buying tickets or attending the show. And we want to place the content weeks or more in advance of the show’s arrival.

We’re also starting a podcast devoted to elephant scientists, behaviorists, advocates, handlers, authors, etc. We will need help promoting this as well.

We’re just getting started and this is an excellent opportunity to help us shape our message and guide our progress.

Please take a look around the site to get a fuller idea of what we do and what we’re working to accomplish.

To apply, please submit a cover letter, CV and links to work you’ve done to david@weepingelephant.org.

Pay is $40-50/hour depending on experience and skill level.
